Tonight will be the first official meeting of our Abe's Army group! We will meet at 5:45, in the fairgrounds, under the shelter behind the grandstand. The leaders will have the Blue 3 sign, and will likely congregate near the "Wine World" building in the North West corner of the shelter.
We are planning to run about three miles tonight. There will probably be a stop for water in the middle where we will regroup, so it will be more like two mile-and-a-half runs instead.
It is going to be hot, so make sure that you hydrate yourselves well this afternoon. It is a process that takes a few hours, you can't just down a bunch of water at 5:30 and call it good.
Are you excited to get out and running yet?
See you tonight!

Thursday 7/22
Wednesday, July 21, 2010Hey all,
First off, I want to say how impressed I am. Not only were we one of only 4-5 groups that ran Monday, but we were easily the biggest number wise. And, I didn't hear one complaint (actually heard more when we threatened to not run!). That shows some serious dedication right there.
Thursday night we are planning to meet at Lutheran High School on West Washington, and run from there out to the intersection with Old Covered Bridge Lane. This should give us four miles worth of hills, and plenty of leg strength, LOL.
Route
Parking
Lutheran has asked that we park in the WEST lot, so if you're coming from Veterans, you will actually have to drive past the building and then turn left into the lot. It is one-way around, so please pay attention to the traffic marking. I'm thinking we will probably be best off to congregate in the North West corner of the lot, since most of the teacher use the South side.
Park in the lot with marker!
See you all Thursday Night!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010As we discussed last night we will meet this Thurs at Washington park at our normal spot by the playground at 545 - 550 and jog to MacArthur to do speed work at the blvd. Maybe 6 x 400s then jog back. Next Thurs we will plan on a hilly run, most likely out West Washington st. Mondays we will dedicate to running the abe's course! I hope all of you can make it out these next two Thurs!

July 12th Group Run
Friday, July 9, 2010Hey all,
This Monday, the group will be meeting at the FAIRGROUNDS so that we can get some miles in on the actual race course and it's hills. We will be running about 5 miles, using a slightly modified race course. Run the race route until you get to the cemetery, then do just the first small loop in the cemetery. When you come back through the park, take the short way around instead of looping around the back side like the race course does. This should leave a distance of right at 5 miles when you get back to the grandstand.
I won't be there this week, so have a good run. Remember to stay hydrated and try to have fun!
